Pokemon Mania

What a great day we had yesterday!!

Yesterday was the first time I practised my makeup skills on some friends for a wedding that they were going to and much to my amazement I pulled it off and my friends looked absolutely gorgeous!!

So whilst I was busy doing that, Damien took the kids along to a Nintendo event at Burwood shopping centre celebrating Pokemon's 10th aniversary. Ethan wanted to join in the pokemon tournament that was being run and we decided to dress Ashlen up for the dress up competition.

Anyhow Ethan had some initial luck in the tournament (calling this the greatest day in his life) before suffering a sad (tear inducing) loss. Suffice to say the day no longer ranked up there with the greatest (more along the lines of a general school day).

Ethan is the blonde boy on the left with the white T-shirt holding the blue gameboy.

Here is Ethan, Aurora and Ashlen with Charmander.

After I showed up things took an upturn as the best dressed was selected. Ashlen won first place on the day and got to choose 2 prizes which cheered Ethan up a bit. See the photo for our prizes!! Over the course of the day and with Ashie's win we got a pikachu toy, a game for the DS (how cool is that, made me feel like my effort on the outfit payed off!), those lanyard thingies, badges, certificates, pokemon cards, DVD box set.

Ashlen with the "real" Pikachu!!

Here are our goodies from the day!!

Ashlen loves her outfit and has only taken it off to go to the loo and have a bath. She loves it soooo much she asked to sleep in it and is wearing it again today!!
It was another learning experience and took about 6 hours to make. I have never attempted a hood before (as you all know, I've just started!!) and I copied one off Aurora's PP coat I recently bought her. It was really easy once I thought about it and so were the ears with good planning.

Julie, what a fantastic effort and I too can see why she won the prize! You are very clever to whip that up so quickly!
