The shirt for Aurora that turned into a dress for Charlie!!
Well decided to pull my finger out and get back into it with an attempt at shirring the yellow material I bought 2 weeks ago. So I measured Aurora and thought I cut enough material. Somehow 30cm across the front has turned into 13cm!! So ladies need advice on how much material to cut....pleeeaaasssee :)
Needless to say we have a little gorgeous baby friend called Charlie and I will give it to her. I've already warned her mother and she is stoked even though she knows it was a mistake.
Anyway, I'm impressed the shirring turned out beautifully, but a little flary up the top for some reason and here is our very own Keropi the frog modelling it for us tonight.
We are meeting Charlie who is nearly 4 months for the first time on Tuesday (I hope) as she will be in Newcastle visiting (lives in Coffs Harbour) and I think we can more then manage the 2 hour drive to see her. I can't wait!

I understand where you are coming from with the shirring, but don't know how to help. My one and only attempt was for a newborn, and when I had finished I said to myself - that will not fit her!!! And it doesn't...back to the drawing board!
I can't really help either. I shired a top for Charlotte tonight but won't know if it fits her until tomorrow. If it does I actually probably only "reduced" by a cm or 2 on either side as the top was originally a bit big. I did have the stitch length and tension set differently from my first attempt that seemd to "reduce" heaps. This may be something??
I double the chest measurement for Ellyse, if it is too big you can always take the seam in.
The dress/top looks great. Is it a stretch fabric? Did you add the feature part at the top?
Thanks girls for the help. Andrea yes I think that I will need to double the material and yes it is a stretch fabric. One of my op shop pick up for $1. Which is good for making mistakes on. I did add the feature part too but it says dry clean only...hmmmm. I better tell my friend to hand wash only!
Cass what stitch length and tension are you recommending?
It's gorgeous Jules! very pretty, will make a cute dress! you'll have to try again for Aurora. I love it! Well done you! (and so that is what a Keropi is! lol)
