Lego Discovery Centre at last!
28th August 2008
Today I remembered the voucher and toddled back off to Potsdamer Platz where the Lego Discovery Centre is with the children in happily in tow.
Ethan will now dictate to me about it
A guide took us to the Fabrik Lego Factory where she told how lego is made. To make lego you need tiny little bits of plastic, melted down, shaped and left to dry. On the way out of the factory we got lego bricks that said Fabrik. In the next room we all built cars or bikes and raced them down the racing ramp. My first few cars didn't work because they kept on driving to the side. But I learnt from my previous mistakes and made a bike with only two wheels. On the jumping ramp my bike made the jumps whereas my cars didn't, which was really cool. I also tested the speed of my bike and it took 3.8 seconds to get down the racing ramp. Daddy thinks he beat me.
At the earthquake tables we all built duplo sky scrapers and placed them on to see if they stood up. It took a couple of goes to get mine to stand up. I discovered that thick bottomed buildings make the sky scrappers stand up better in an earthquake.
Next we went to the Dragon ride where we sat in dragons and went around a small course of a castle scene which had a dragon in it. The bats were really funny because they kept on spitting at you.
There was a Sponge Bob exhibition which had big sponge bob characters. My favourite was Patrick because he had flowers on his pants. It takes thousands of bricks to make these big lego characters.
Near the Sponge Bob room there was Mini World which had places built from all over Berlin. It became night every 10 mins and the city lights would come on and the train station turned on their dim glow as they usually have at night. When it became morning the hot air balloon rose and the helicopters propeller started to spin.
The thing that I thought was fun was the Indiana Jones Jungle search where we had to do animal quizzes to find the crystal skull. To get the skull there was a button near a giant spider where I had to answer the question to reveal the crystal skull above the spider.
Next stop - 4D Castle Movie featuring a jester, an evil wizard, a princess and a blacksmith. I liked the part where the jester did a funny dance and made the skeletons laugh which knocked them over. We got to wear 3D glasses and felt like it was actually happening.
I thought today was really fun because I haven't seen giant lego people before. The Lego Centre was very cool.
Patrick and his funny shorts from the Sponge Bob Exhibition.
I managed to pull up some video today too....yay, only short.
