Going to Nashville....
Thursday 24th of July 2008 - Sunday 27th of July 2008.
After a horrid night of practically no sleep we lobbed up at the airport to catch our 6am flight to Nashville to see our good friend Barry who moved over here last April to marry the gorgeous Kate. After landing 5 hours later Barry was at the airport waiting for us. We quickly pulled off all our winter woollies that served us so well in San Francisco as we felt the hot and humid air on our skin.
At Barry and Kate's house we unloaded, changed and got acquainted with Rocco the Chocolate Labrador. For a one year old puppy he is absolutely huge but still extremely playful. The kiddies have had such a great time hanging out with the hound. Being in a house has given us all a bit of down time that we so desperately needed after a full on week in San Francisco. And we were able to do our washing!!
Nashville as you know is the Country Music Capital of the World!! We are trying to embrace this culture while we are here. We took a night time tour (courtesy of Barry) around the sights and saw the flashing lights of the Honky Tonk St - full of restaurants, bars, boot shops etc etc. We also have encountered the Parthenon! What? you might say, that's right. In Nashville is a full recreation of the Parthenon to scale as you would find it in Greece LOL Not sure why, the security guard said it was because they were the Athens of the south. Either way it is still an impressive building and interesting to see here in Nashville. Also the baseball fields over here are incredible. Think Olympic Stadium at Homebush and then some. I kid you not!! Just for baseball.
In between vegging out we also managed to take a walk down the Honky Tonk through the day time. I'm loving the boot shops, they have some cool boots in them there windows! We are also enjoying the heat. We feel like we are in summer now, though I have reverted to my summer time ways and feel the need for nanna naps.
These photos are completely out of order however that doesn't matter!
Here are the munchkins in Nashville!
Here we all are in the main street and below is how it looks at night. It called something like the Honky Tonk Street.
We went for lunch one day for some tradition Southern food of fried pickles and ribs. BB King's Blues Club was the place for us.
Doing a bit souvenir shopping we discovered what Damien would look like with a mullet. He seems pretty please with the new look
The Parthenon, can you see how little the kiddies look?
Nashville has some gorgeous parks and walking tracks. This photo was taken at Percy Warner Park which is 2000 acres of land.

I am a C&W music person, back in the days of Garth...
