We saw Knut at Berlin Zoo!

As a thank you gift for helping out at Caitie's birthday, Julia and Roderick presented us with some tickets to Berlin Zoo which were gratefully accepted.
So we packed a lunch and Caitie with us and trotted off to the zoo. It was a gorgeous zoo, with lovely gardens and cobble stoned paths. The sun was shining and we enjoyed walking around to see all the animals.
Ethan wrote that we looked at the big elephants first who were (apparently) trying to get over the trench surrounding them. The baby one was just walking around. I also liked the Mongooses who liked to run around in a circle and try to poke their head into the next cage. (They're like ferret looking animals.
The little monkeys that ran around with babies on their backs were very funny. The spider monkeys were my favourite animal because they used tails as extra hands. One grabbed a rope with its tail and swung the rope around. We all enjoyed the birds very much, lots were from Australia. I liked the Hyacinth Macaw because it waddled like a penguin, pronounced pinguin in German. We even saw Kookaburras who wouldn't laugh. (So we walked around the zoo singing the Kookaburra sits on the electric wire song, not sure if anyone was watching. LOL).
But the Seals were funny because they kept on making noises to try and wake up the seeping seals.

Knut was fabulous and very popular, I'm sure much to the disgust of the brown bear perched up on a rock staring at the crowds of people walking past. He was ready to perform on the day we visited and we watched him for a long time diving in the water, putting his head in his yellow bucket, swimming along the entire passage that the crowd were watching him from. And he wasn't so little anymore either - he is a fully grown Polar Bear.

The Hyacinth Macaw that Ethan loved.

Here we are with the Heffalumps!
