Bowling, City and Skydiving!
Another Friday night...another night of FUN!
It was Ashlen's choice this time for an outing and she picked 10 pin bowling. So we booked a lane and off we went to bumper bowl in disco light. Ashie tried pushing the bowling ball down but in the end preferred the stand. We got the bumpers turned on for them to avoid the gutter ball trick that we are all so good at. Ashlen was our little mascot giving everyone encouragement and Hi-5's...all the time! Hope you like the piccies. Down the bottom is a video of Aurora bowling. It was the shortest one that we took that will go up on here.
See how fast I am, I'm a blur!
Last Wednesday we took advantage of one of the last nice weathered days of the week and went to the city to meet Damien for lunch and go to the Museum. Ellen and Clare came along for the ride and we all had a lovely day walking around. It ended up being the hottest July day for 19 years at 25.5 degrees. And of course we were dressed for winter!
At the botanic gardens we dined on home made quiches and pumpkin bread (thanks Kelly!), and hot chips. We waited for the 1pm cannon to fire which it did...at 1pm. Not sure what Ashie is doing here but she seems to be the queen of funny faces lately.

At the museum we found out latest favourite rock. It is amazing how a lot of these rocks look like coral. This is Cerussite from a mine at Broken Hill. Very impressive.

Another exciting part of the day was to find a curator at the dinosaur wedge that was brought in from Alberto, Canada. For months we have seen it enclosed in a case, but this time it was being worked on. Dave, the museum man, was happy to answer questions we had and to let us hold a 75 million year old bone fragment. We felt very honored to be able to do so and knew how special it was. Out of 6 wedges that were brought over here, they are hoping to get a full set of at least one dinosaur. Can't remember which one to be exact but it is part of the Triceratops family. Also discovered if we want to see dinosaurs from Queensland, they are housed in Brisbane.

Aurora with a piece bone.
A new exhibition was out too, large Australian Mammals. The one below was like a wombat, can't remember the name. The kids weren't impressed because it had a baby in it's pouch that was apparently disgusting.
